They used to think they would live forever. While renovating a dilapidated pub, four childhood friends realise time has caught up with them in several ways. This awareness puts pressure on their friendship.
When childhood friends André, Bart and David help their friend Joost renovate his decrepit pub, it turns out these men in their late fifties are no longer immortal. Not only has time left its marks on their bodies, the atmosphere of rumbustious guys among each other mainly seems a lightning rod for their underlying problems. In Boris Paval Conen’s summery adaptation of Bert Wagendorp’s novel Ferrara, Leopold Witte, Wilfried de Jong, Reinout Bussemaker and Wim Opbrouck play the four ageing friends, for whom eventually loyalty and humour are their salvation.
