Portrait of the inhabitants of a neglected block of flats in the 'Oil' district of Hoogvliet, situated amidst the Rotterdam docks. Documentary maker Gerard d'Olivat spent six months following the ups and downs of several young 'ghetto' dwellers. For instance we meet a drugs dealer, a hard-rocker, a Surinamese 'Godfather', a scrap metal merchant and two young Antillean crooks. Kroniek van een getto shows how the inhabitants try to keep on their feet in a Dutch ghetto where no one seems to work or live normally.
