How the casual encounter in a tram between the 80-year-old Boukje and the hurried forty-something Marcel leads to a memorable afternoon. Shot in black-and-white in hectic Amsterdam.
The lives of a fragile elderly woman and a nervous divorced father meet on a weekday in the tram. When the man helps her out with a small gesture, it’s too late to go back. Although he can’t stay with her, he does not dare to leave her to her own devices. A hurried, lengthy search ends at the stop where they got on the tram earlier that day. Back to square one. Or not? Seen through the old woman’s confounded, resigned eyes, the film shows the colourful and hectic city life.
