Eleven-year-old Meis shares a house with her deeply spiritual mother in the Limburg countryside. To escape the changes going on around her, Meis retires to her own imaginative and harmless insect world, in this youth film.
Meis (11) and her spiritual mother recently moved to the Limburg countryside. “Far better than that dirty, smelly city”, claims Meis’ egocentric mother, while furnishing the house with easels and yoga mats. For the time being, Meis’ things are still in storage. In this debut film, the young Meis escapes the changes in her life by clinging to her self-created insect world: a doll’s house where she keeps flies and beetles and everything is harmless and playful. Nevertheless, the outside world seeps in. Can Meis come to terms with this?
