Kanth

Director: Kasia Pluskota
What changed and what stayed the same in border towns where after World War II the German presence was wiped out? Two young filmmakers dive into what remains of it in the current Polish town of Kąty Wrocławskie, previously called Kanth.
Until the end of World War II, the Polish town Kąty Wrocławskie bore the German name Kanth. After the war, German inhabitants were driven away and Polish people moved in. Empty houses, forgotten possessions and deserted cemeteries remained. Two young filmmakers explore the idea of what defines 'post-German’, via conversations with the population and field research. A story about an almost forgotten dichotomy, demonstrating that history not always repeats itself.
