The carefree life of Marieke - a woman in her early thirties - takes a severe blow when her friend breaks off their relationship. When she subsequently falls victim to rape, she decides to leave Amsterdam. She opts for a secluded life on a remote farm, in the midst of winter. Here, she gradually loses her grip on life. The dynamic camera follows Marieke with lapses in time and reality, and registers her loneliness, paranoia and fantasies of revenge.
