Farmer’s son Oskar decides not to take over his parents’ homestead. A decision that deeply disappoints his father. Can the two taciturn men learn to talk about it?
Farmer’s son Oskar’s life is not particularly carefree. Although he wants to set out and explore the world, he is stuck on his parents’ farm. They expect Oskar to take over the homestead in the future, guaranteeing the continuation of their life’s work. In the intimate rural drama Kalf, graduating director Dirkje Duwel shows how Oskar musters the courage to choose for himself. This puts him at loggerheads with his father Cees, who can’t understand why Oskar abandons the family business. Will Cees be able to forgive his son?
