Moving family film is feature film début of Joram Lürsen. In Oranje is based on the lives of Marco van Basten, who already suffered from a weak ankle at a young age, and Johan Cruijff, whose father died when Johan was still a boy. Protagonist is the eleven-year-old Remco, who dreams of playing in the youth squad of Holland. He is not lacking in talent and his fanatical coach, supporter and father Erik, who always knows everything better and is on the sidelines shouting, prepares his son for the top. When Erik suddenly dies, the fun is over for Remco. He quits playing soccer. Being offered help from unexpected quarters, he resumes his efforts. But the road is full of bumps, as Remco has to deal with tough selection matches, a serious ankle injury, a dull-witted bookkeeper who is in love with his mother and his first kiss. In Oranje was awarded a Golden Film.
