Poignant documentary on three people who are unable to walk due to accidents. They each try to cope with the situation in their own way.
Kathinka, Marinus and Tony are all three unable to walk. Dancer Kathinka fell, Marinus had a car accident and talented soccer player Tony caught six bullets that were not meant for him. Ivanka Bakker and Jacco Groen followed the three physically disabled people over a long period, and interviewed them and their beloved ones at the hospital, rehabilitation centre and at home. In the course of the documentary, we get to see how each tries to accept the new situation, or change it, in various stages of anger, hope, militancy, bitterness and resignation. `I think only one thing helps, and that is to get back in life, simply by doing everyday things', Marinus realises at a certain moment. The three protagonists' candour makes the film a poignant and moving reflection on the resilience of the human mind.
