Poignant short documentary about three interpreters who work like human cogs in the legal system during the Yugoslavia Tribunal in The Hague. What are the emotional repercussions on their private lives?
Day by day, three interpreters translate the infernal accounts by war crime victims at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague. At the same time, they translate the pleas by those who are accused of these crimes. This poignant documentary focusses on the human cogwheels in the legal system, who in their capacity are expected to bring nothing personal – their own stories, feelings or opinions – to their emotionally taxing job. How do you deal with this workload in private life?
