How Now, House?

Director: Tess Martin
In Rotterdam there is a house. And this house has had scores of different occupants. Their memories reverberate in this experimental film, in which time is far more pliable and complex than expected.
Preceded by a quote from Einstein, who already realised that the distinction between past, present and future is an illusion, this documentary animation addresses the desire to leave our mark. It does so on the basis of a house in Rotterdam where different periods overlap, when its previous and current occupants stroll down memory lane. Incorporating archives, personal memories and the philosophy of time perception, the filmmaker wonders if a space can ever really belong to one person, or to one time period.
