While hormonal contraception makes one woman feel more like herself, they make another feel lost. Award-winning dancer Bodine Sutorius expresses the hidden world of hormones in this playful mix of documentary, dance and science.
Although nearly half of the Dutch women under 25 uses hormones as a contraceptive, we still do not exactly know what they do. In Hormonaal, dancer Bodine Sutorius impersonates real stories by women in gripping scenes, at the doctor’s, in the supermarket and in a living room. The experiences are highly different: While the hormones make one woman feel more like herself, they make another woman feel lost. In a playful mix of documentary, dance and science, the film comes as close to the invisible world of hormones as possible. What we feel, what we know, but even more what we do not know yet.
