Half of young parents want to divide work and care equally, but in practice, only nine percent manage to do so. How is it that, seventy years after the abolition of the Married Women's Legal Incapacity Act, traditional gender roles still hold women back?

Until 1956, the Married Women's Legal Incapacity Act prevented married women from working independently, opening a bank account, or making financial decisions. The abolition of that law was therefore a historic breakthrough. But seventy years later, that expected equality has proven far less of a given in practice than it is on paper. This documentary examines how old ideas about family, work and care remain deeply entrenched in Dutch society, seven decades later.
