The incredible story of the late doctor Jan Karbaat, the notorious fertility doctor who used his own semen to impregnate dozens of women. How could this happen and what were the implications for the lives of the people involved?
In the 1970s and 1980s, fertility doctor Jan Karbaat was considered a progressive pioneer. So it came as quite a shock when it turned out the famous doctor had used his own semen to impregnate more than 65 women. This series in three parts not only addresses the trauma of the mothers and children and the confusing feelings surrounding the genetic heritage. The exploration extends to the nature-nurture debate, the longing for immortality and moral issues around anonymous donorship.
