Het Ratje, De Mens & De Metro

Director: Thomas Renckens
In this playful youth adventure with a twist, a rat born in the Amsterdam metro sets off on a journey of discovery. She wants to finally understand why humans display so many questionable pest-like habits of their own.
Staartje the rat has had enough of humans branding her and her kind as filthy vermin. "Time for the truth," she decides in this resourceful documentary. She travels across the Amsterdam metro, observing questionable human behaviour with a sharp eye and a healthy dose of humour. A businessman in the south of the city is trapped in the rat race, a fortune teller in the north predicts the future for stingy folks, an archaeologist finds people to be filthy creatures. "And you call me a pest?" Staartje wonders. "As if!" A plea for contentment, disguised as a film essay with a touch of magical realism.
