In the early 2000s, then Rijksmuseum director Ronald de Leeuw launched an ambitious renovation with unbridled energy. His staff members devote themselves to the metamorphosis with equal passion, but outside the walls all parties are negotiating. Politicians, aesthetics committees, tendering problems and a militant Cyclists’ Union thwart many a plan, resulting in unprecedented delays. From 2005 to 2008, Oeke Hoogendijk patiently captured everything that happened - and especially that did not.
