While the Surinam filmmaker shoots a historical film about the abolition of slavery, he is approached by a Dutch filmmaker. She wants to make a portrait of him. His wife scents danger. Het laatste verlangen is not only a film about minimal movie maker Pim de la Parra himself, but also about his relationship to film, women and the Surinam film climate. De la Parra invariably opts for improvisation and documentary photography. Occasionally, the documentary story is illustrated with archive footage from De la Parra's earlier work.
