Het Kind is Groot is a personal and emotional quest for freedom, love and friendship. Filmmaker Joost van der Wiel plunges into the lawless life of blues musician André van den Boogaart and discovers a lot about himself amid the Brabant blues.
Filmmaker Joost van der Wiel wants only one thing. But how do you do it? He tries to find the answer from André van den Boogaart, a blues singer challenging life and embracing misery. A song can always be found in sorrow, he claims. The 28-year-old Van der Wiel admires his relaxed life style and recognises himself in the music it generates. The blues is life, sung in all honesty.
