Television film based on the novel by Simon Vestdijk, in which an author becomes fascinated by the behaviour of an old friend from his youth, a celebrated conductor. He decides to dedicate a book to him. The conductor uses his charisma and beautiful music to seduce women. But if they get too close, he chases them away with a sudden outburst of rage. In an obsessive quest for the motives of his friend, the writer involves another friend from his youth and abuses women to lure the conductor. The question remains who is the most diabolical of the old friends. The cursing conductor who despises women or the sly and manipulative writer.
