Helped by refugee-musicians, DJ Robert Soko, who made a name for himself with his Balkan Beats, looks for a new European sound. Stirring and hopeful at the same time.
In order to survive, you have to move. Robert Soko learned this lesson as a teenager, when he fled the violence of the Yugoslavian war. With his cross-pollination of Western music and stirring Balkan rhythms, he bloomed into a famous Balkan Beats DJ in Berlin and on the European club scene. Now, in his taxi, he looks for new migrants to make music with; musicians who have left hearth and home. He finds them on his native soil, where streams of refugees from Syria and Afghanistan pass, on their way to their dreamed final destination, Berlin. The encounters breach musical boundaries and reveal the changed identity of Europe.
