Heem

Director: Ben Lardinois
Cain lives in his brother’s shadow, who once upon a time disappeared in the mysterious Limburg hills. Now older, Cain tries to step out of Wiel’s shadow, but then the landscape inevitably seems to beckon Cain too.
Extra-terrestrial mystery and Limburg-tinged realism. In his feature debut, director Ben Lardinois mixes different styles and genres into an intriguing crime story in which the young Cain fails to step out of the shadow of his elder brother Wiel, a legendary character in the Maastricht underworld. So, when Cain decides to go and deal drugs with a friend, other people keep reminding him of his brother’s mythical status. But why is Cain actually so strongly aware of this? And how about the almost otherworldly appeal of the Limburg hills?
