Historical archives get a new life in this hybrid documentary animation about the colonial legacy, in which special AI is employed to emphasise the often omitted Black perspective.
This hybrid documentary animation examines the colonial heritage in archives as seen through the lens of black land managers. This mix of live-action fragments, archive footage and made-to-measure AI-generated animation reinterprets the film archives as dynamic, living systems. The result is a visual time travel that focusses on the relationship between communities and the land, presenting the stories of black farmers in a completely new way, thus breathing new life into them.
