When ten-year-old Hammada gets spanked by his frustrated father, he runs away. On a small beach by the river, he licks his wounds; this will be his new home. On this dreamlike spot, far from the harsh reality, he gets acquainted with a mysterious man pricking paper on the river bank. While neither the headstrong imam, nor his best friend can make Hammada change his mind, this wise old man shows him the true value of having a family.
