Coming-of-age drama about fourteen-year-old Leon, who is at an utter loss when he finds out that his mother, behind his father’s back, is hooking up with the man next door.
Fourteen-year-old Leon does not need words to let his mother know he misses his father: the cap he wears says it all. The reticent teenager found it on his father’s boat, which is wasting away in IJmuiden harbour while its owner is serving time in prison. The tension between mother and son is palpable and reaches the boiling point for Leon when he finds out the man living in the gallery flat next door is more to his mother than just a neighbour. A coming-of-age drama about hope and expectations.
