Three generations of women from the Blijden family describe their relationship with Curaçao, their migration to the Netherlands, present and absent fathers and the ever-slumbering desire to go back. Together, they make up a close-knit group of strong and independent women. Through their personal histories, they also reveal the Dutch colonial past and events that determined the recent history of the Antilles and Holland: the uprising in Willemstad on 30 May 1969, the departure of Shell, but also St. Nicholas on the Antilles and life in the Bijlmer in Amsterdam.
