Farmer Gerlach is one of the last small crop farmers in the Netherlands. In this inspiring and entertaining documentary, he tends to his beets and corn with great dedication, while property developers have their eyes on his land and climate change disrupts his harvest.
The wisdoms of farmer Gerlach are thrown at the viewer in this documentary by Aliona van der Horst and Luuk Bouwman. Gerlach is the last small crop farmer who, wedged between distribution centres and a McDonalds franchise, pursues his traditional cultivating methods. Despite everything crossing his path, Gerlach stands proudly with his down-to-earth humour and the help of his loving brothers and friends. A moving portrait full of humour about a small crop farmer gleefully defying every adverse wind in life.
