While the first verses of Hans Warren's poem Aan de Westerschelde appear on the screen, a man ties his shoelaces. He starts strolling along the water of the Westerschelde in dusky light and keeps walking to the cadence of the poem, which deals with loss and redemption. Historical footage of a stranded tanker and a curious sheep, set to music by Bach, weld sound, image and text together into an inseparable whole.
