Gantenbein is a documentary about the consequences of a brain operation performed in 1990 in the AMC in Amsterdam on Gijs van Eyck. His wife Olly was stunned to find a man who was paralysed on one side and talked gibberish. Seven years later, Olly has started a court case against the AMC because she still doesn't know what happened during the operation. Was a drain fitted wrongly? In the meantime, the family has moved. Gijs can no longer read, his full bookcase is unused. By the afternoon he doesn't know what he did in the morning.
