In this powerful video, Fresku and MocroManiac denounce racism and inequality. Not only by brute violence, but also in the well-meant but condescending pat on the head.

Rapper MocroManiac getting a friendly tap on the head from Matthijs van Nieuwkerk: this cranks up the music video for Witlof. A gesture you may also interpret as condescending, especially when white people do it to a black man, as it is constantly done in the video. The man is seated at a table in the street, eating chicory, ‘so much that I almost turn white’. The message is hard to miss. Particularly with the historical images involving racism that file past: slavery, colonialism, the KKK, police violence, Black Pete. Enough to throw up the chicory.
