In the comedy Ellis in Glamourland, Linda de Mol plays the single mother Ellis who finds it hard to make ends meet. The former Miss Scheveningen lives in a working-class area in The Hague, has several lousy jobs and a nagging mother (Nelly Frijda). One day, Ellis gets an offer from Joan Collins (playing herself) to participate in the 'How to marry a millionaire' course. Along with her fellow course members, Ellis keeps Collins's pressing directions at the back of her mind and combs funerals, golf courses and cocktail parties in search of that one - rich - Mr. Right. In this newly discovered glamour land, Ellis is showered with gifts and attention. But eventually she is faced with the choice: money, security or true happiness. In the exuberant closing scene, her fellow course members, playing cheerful supporting parts, also turn out to have discovered the true sense of living.
