Documentary about the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
A Royal Society is a documentary in five parts about the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. For a year, director Roel van Dalen filmed rehearsals, work discussions, concerts, auditions, CD recordings and business meetings. He also travelled with the orchestra on a tour to the Far East in 1996. This documentary does not focus on the music, as much as on the people who make the music possible: from performers to cleaners.
