Akwasi was four when he saw a plane crash onto the opposite flat. Thirty years later, he begins a quest for the hole that remained in the hearts of all the children who were witnesses to the crash of El Al Flight 1862.
On 4 October 1992, an airplane crashes onto the flats Groeneveen and Klein-Kruitberg in the Amsterdam Bijlmer district. Many local residents are witnesses to the catastrophe and lose their homes, relatives or friends. Children, too, see the crash, the blaze that people try to escape from and the gaping hole that remains. Akwasi Ansah saw all this at the age of four. He and other children from the neighbourhood made drawings and wrote stories about what they saw, which were compiled in a book. Thirty years later, this marks the beginning of Akwasi's quest. Together with his partners in misfortune, he confronts the trauma.
