Tragicomic film is based on Heere Heeresma's novella from 1962. The film introduces Cas Enklaar as Bernd, a divorced dipsomaniac who takes his slightly disabled daughter Walijne (Tara Fallaux) to the beach for a day. At Scheveningen beach, they encounter all sorts of strange people. But Bernd's craving for liquor makes the outing deteriorate into a pub-crawl during which he loses sight of his daughter. The voice-over is by author Heere Heeresma himself. Second film by Theo van Gogh.
