For one year, award-winning war photographer Eddy van Wessel travels along Ukrainian front lines, in search of the ultimate image. How do you function as a photographer in the surreal reality of a war?
Eddy van Wessel is the Netherlands’ most acclaimed war photographer. For four seasons, Joost van der Valk follows him on his journey along Ukrainian front lines. For decades, Eddy has been trying to take the ultimate photograph: an image that summarises the whole conflict and makes all setbacks worthwhile. This documentary shows how Van Wessel experiences and captures the war, via meetings and interactions with Ukrainians. Also on the other side of the lens, you are not immune to the suffering caused by war. How do you function as a photographer in the surreal reality of a war zone?
