Dunya (19) has a close tie with her mother, but it can also feel oppressive. She dreams of singing and having a place of her own. Will the eventful family history repeat itself, or will she free herself?
In Dunya, we follow the coming-of-age, shot extremely close, of nineteen-year-old Dunya, who is inseparable from her mother and yet wants to be free. Clashes, anxiety, pleasure and intimacy. Mother Sabine, a resolute Amsterdam woman, was at one time homeless. and there are more problems in the family, but there is also singing talent. Dunya has musical ambitions and dreams of her own home. Sometimes a song expresses best what you feel. Made with the Film Fund Wildcard for Bary's award-winning graduation film Wognum.
