Summer 1997. While Amsterdam prepares for the Eurotop, three homeless people try to survive on the fringe of society. The paths of the alcoholic Stefan, the immigrant prostitute Gina and the runaway boy Dennis cross. To survive, they rob, curse and manipulate each other, but gradually familiarity breeds friendship. This leads to hope, love and eventually despair as 'ghosts' from the past reemerge. For their feature début Dropouts, director Will Wissink and scriptwriter Zebi Damen spent 48 hours in Amsterdam's homeless circuit.
