DRIFT

Director: Nienke Huitenga Broeren, Hay Kranen, Minem Sezgin, Lieven Heeremans
What will the Netherlands look like in 500 years? You can hear that in this generative open world podcast project. Written, acted and prompted by real people. With new stories generated every day – based on current climate data, to the rhythm of the tides and the moon.
A podcast like you've never heard before: immerse yourself in an audio world exploring the Netherlands set in the future after the climate crisis. Wander with your ears along storylines and through a landscape where the ten-metre rise in sea level, daily storms and periods of extreme drought have drastically changed life. You only recognise the Netherlands by its dykes; the land has been swallowed by water. The fusion of tech and nature allows human and non-human characters to tell you about their world. Everything is connected, through water.

Listen to the octopus who holds up a mirror to humanity. Follow essential workers Ruben, Lex and Aniek as they purify the memory water. Float along with the weather report or try to get into the techno club.
