What do cigarettes, erotic literature and close harmony music have in common? William Levy (1939, Brooklyn, New York) combines these elements in his Dr. Doowop Show, the only doo-wop radio show in Europe. 'I've got the right medicine for you', Dr. Doowop says to welcome his faithful listeners. Brongers pays a visit to Levy and shows the man behind the voice in his Amsterdam apartment. The host shows his huge collection of books, erotic toys, wall maxims and articles that he wrote, published or collected over the years. The computer gives away the modern age, because otherwise his house is full of old and rare memorabilia. While the camera takes its time to film Levy's apartment, we hear his warm voice in the voice-over. He tells about his life as a radio maker, a music lover, about radical media, eternal love and loneliness. In fact, he likes to use radio to reach a hundred thousand people without having to see anyone. His comments on his life are alternated with extracts from his renowned radio show.
