In the late 1980s, Katelijne grows up among six brothers in a deeply religious farmer’s family in Zeeland. Because she is hardly given any farmwork, the intelligent girl feels an outsider. She takes refuge in fantasies and stories, and secretly devours the fairytales her religion forbids her to read. It gradually dawns on Katelijne that she will have to turn her back on religious life to find her true self. Drama, based on Franca Treur’s eponymous bestseller.
