Thirteen-year-old Donna tries to survive in her home situation, her circle of friends and a conventional school setting.
Identity develops in relation to someone’s environment, but what happens when the different environments you relate to gradually offer less to hold on to and share fewer and fewer norms and values? Thirteen-year-old Donna is hiding behind a mask. This way, she does not have to yield to the helplessness she experiences in relation to others. While on the street solidarity and acknowledgement beckon, her identity is unsettled.
