Dead of Night

Director: Farhad Vilkiji
A censored writer retreats to his remote hometown to finish a novel, but the struggle to survive doesn't let up. It's as if the rising river has joined forces with the regime.
Farhad is a translator and writer whose values have always clashed with those of the government, meaning his work has never been approved for publication. So, he moves with his wife and daughter to his birthplace, a wooded, mountainous village. There, he settles into a modest house on the verge of being swallowed by a rising river. His stay there, and the writing of his new novel, mark the beginning of a new struggle for survival for him and his family — a struggle against both the river and the oppressive regime.
