Affectionate look at a Dutch-Brazilian family, who in the poor Ponta Negra neighbourhood in North-Brazil have to cope with loss, each family member in his or her own way.
Solange died at a very young age, but is still present in her Dutch-Brazilian family in the impoverished Ponta Negra neighbourhood in the north of Brazil. Her sister Vida incorporates her in the game she plays. Mother Ryan still has nightmares, bit also looks for beauty in the photographs she takes. ‘I believe death doesn’t exist. It feels good to say so.’ Despite the gloomy background, light images are evidence of hope in this intimate family portrait.
