Ditvoorst's last film - three years later he would commit suicide - was loosely based on Yvonne Keuls's successful novel De moeder van David S. Incorporating many close-ups, the film tells the story of the relationship between a single dominant mother (Pim Lambeau) and her addicted twenty-five-year-old son (Thom Hoffman). The young man, leading a secluded life as an artist in a squat, uses heroin to soar above everyday life like an eagle. Mother and son have been on bad terms for ten years. A serious car accident changes this situation.
