Adaptation of Hugo Claus' play from 1996, in which the terminally ill Magda, lying on her deathbed, looks back on her disappointing marriage and offspring; on her surly, slovenly husband Oscar (played by Jan Decleir), her dull son and her daughter who is married to a second-rate soccer player. Magda's deceased, wicked sister Marleen keeps interrupting her story, makes comments, provokes and blackmails, until finally Magda passes on peacefully.
