On the debris of bombed Rotterdam, a new city arose. But buildings are still demolished and expensive new housing estates appear. Bep and Tinus look upon this with sorrow and capture the process with their photo camera.
Rotterdam, a city permanently in transition, is the subject of this highly imaginative graduation documentary with a magical-realist touch. Director Suzanne Koopstra follows the couple Bep and Tinus, who have been capturing their city with a photo camera for decades. They mainly focus on the buildings that are demolished, to be replaced by large, expensive housing estates for yuppies. Where should the ordinary Rotterdam citizen live now, they and Koopstra wonder.
