How a young Ghanaian immigrant excels as a successful pupil and talented sprinter on Dutch soil, but nevertheless has to fight for years to obtain a residence permit. Akwasi Frimpong's parents bring their son to the Netherlands when he is eight. The Surinam coach Sammy Monsels discovers the youthful Frimpong on the dirt track that runs right below the concrete pillars of the subway line in Amsterdam Zuid-Oost. They train together for years, with success. But Frimpong is reluctant to say he does not have a legal status here. He needs all his perseverance and that of his - emotional - coach Monsels and many others to mollify the Dutch authorities to let him stay. Directors Rinske Bosch and Nicole Batteké followed the sprinter from 2003. In the process, they show not only the genesis of a sprint talent (Frimpong nicknames himself 'Golden Sprint'), but also the revelation of a timid, underage illegal alien as a self-confident (new) Dutchman.
