A film by and about Amsterdam youth, most of them from foreign origin.
For his feature De straat is van ons! (The Street Is Ours!) filmmaker Peter Bosch brought together more than a hundred Amsterdam kids between 13 and 20, most of them of foreign extraction, in community centres. These kids told him how they experience reality, cope with social differences and wrestle with their identity. Based on their stories, Bosch made a feature giving their problems a voice. About how a Moroccan kid works as pimp, a Surinamese girl finds out she is sero-positive and a group of Moroccan youths are refused admission to a discotheque. The roles were played in the film by te kids themselves.
