Seunke's feature film-debut, a prize winner in Venice, in which Gerard Thoolen takes a neglected girl under his wing.

Orlow Seunke’s feature debut was inspired by Hungarian author György Konrád’s novel The visitor from 1976. The story deals with a cynical, rule-abiding civil servant of the social services (played by Gerard Thoolen), whose life changes when he is confronted with a girl that has been locked up in a closet for years by her mentally deranged parents. The film won the Dutch Film Critics’ Award and a Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival. Screened within the framework of the 40th anniversary of the Association of Dutch Film Critics, who want to celebrate the event by looking back at this outstanding and still relevant film from their founding year. With an introduction.
