English Sam meets her Dutch in-laws for the first time in the hospital's family room. She tries to find her place amid grief that isn't hers.
This debut film tells the story of English Sam (27) and Dutch Gina (28), who have only been together for a few months when they're forced to rush to the hospital: Gina's father has suddenly died. In this moment, Sam meets Gina's family for the first time, right in the middle of a whirlwind of grief and chaos. Sam barely understands the language and feels like an outsider in an emotional storm. As the whole family loses someone, Sam realises that she too risks losing something: the certainty of her place beside Gina.
