A calm woman and an overstrained chief editor of a glossy magazine strike up a conversation at a pavement café. This leads to an unexpected, but for both women much-needed emotional and spiritual connection.
Mahlet is sitting comfortably on a chair outside an Ethiopian coffee bar, when the agitated Kristal takes a seat beside her. She is on the phone, speaking petulantly in Papiamento until her phone dies down. After an awkward silence, the two strike up a conversation and first-time filmmaker Meron Taye shows how in a short time a connection arises between the two black women. For example, they both know the same Black-owned hairdressers, they discuss their feelings of guilt towards their brothers and sisters and they share their mental health insights.
